Wat Tham Suea, Tha Muang
A hilltop temple with a huge seated Buddha looking out over rice paddies and the Mae Klong River. An easy first stop just before you reach Kanchanaburi town; stairs and a lift both go up. Open roughly 07:30–16:30.
Bridge over the River Kwai & Kanchanaburi War Cemetery
Both in town. You can walk the WWII railway bridge itself, and the war cemetery a short drive away is quiet and well kept. Riverside restaurants and a night market make this a good final stop.
Tham Krasae & the Death Railway, Sai Yok
A wooden trestle viaduct hugging the cliff for over 400 metres above the Khwae Noi River. Only a few trains pass each day, so check the timetable if you want a shot of one crossing.
Erawan Falls, Erawan National Park
Seven tiers spread along a 1.5 km trail, about 65 km beyond Kanchanaburi town. The park closes around 16:30 and cuts off access to the upper tiers earlier. Entry is paid at the gate and the foreign-visitor rate is higher than the Thai rate.
Hellfire Pass Memorial, Sai Yok
An Australian–Thai memorial and interpretive centre at the rock cutting that POWs and Asian labourers dug by hand for the Thailand–Burma Railway. The walk down is exposed, so morning or late afternoon is more comfortable.
Mallika City R.E. 124, Sai Yok
A recreated Siamese town set in the reign of King Rama V, with period costume rental so you can walk the whole village in dress. It sits on the same road as Sai Yok Noi waterfall, an easy roadside pause.

The stretch from Kanchanaburi town up to Erawan and Sai Yok is a winding two-lane highway. A driver who runs it regularly reads the overtaking gaps and gives you realistic arrival times.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the drive from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi take?
Around 2 to 2.5 hours to Kanchanaburi town, a distance of roughly 140 km. If you are heading straight to Erawan Falls, add another 1 to 1.5 hours beyond town. Friday mornings and Thai public holidays can add another half hour.
What does the ฿4,000 price include?
Fuel, expressway and motorway tolls, the driver and bottled water are all included in that single price. What you pay separately is national park and attraction entry fees, your own meals, and the driver's accommodation if the trip runs overnight — we spell this out when we quote.
Can we stop at several places along the way?
Yes. The price is per trip, so stops along the route are fine. Tell us your wish list when you book so we can order them sensibly — Erawan National Park closes around 16:30, for example, so combining it with Hellfire Pass needs the right sequence.
Is Kanchanaburi doable as a day trip from Bangkok?
It is, if you leave by 6 am and pick two or three sights, such as Erawan Falls plus the Bridge over the River Kwai. If you want Erawan, Tham Krasae and Hellfire Pass in the same visit, one overnight in Kanchanaburi makes the day far less rushed.
How is an overnight trip priced, and how do I book?
฿4,000 and ฿9,000 are per trip, so a return journey counts as two trips. A 50% deposit confirms the booking and the balance is paid on the day. Let us know if you need a driver who can communicate in English and we will do our best to arrange one.
How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi?
Our private van taxi from Bangkok to Kanchanaburi is a fixed price per vehicle, one way: Toyota Commuter ฿4,000 (9–13 seats) or Toyota Alphard ฿9,000 (6–7 seats), including driver, fuel, tolls and drinking water — no meter and no surcharge for luggage. Pickup from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang airport is the same fare. The return from Kanchanaburi costs the same.
On a full-day charter, what if we go over the time or distance?
If the van and driver stay with your group all day (same-day return or sightseeing stops), packages start at 11 hours · 330 km (Commuter ฿6,950 / Alphard ฿16,700). Extra time is ฿300 per hour for the Commuter or ฿600 per hour for the Alphard, and extra distance is ฿25/km (Commuter) or ฿45/km (Alphard).
