KINGTOCAR · Private van with driver

Bangkok to Khao Yai Private Van Hire with Driver

Khao Yai sits about 144 km northeast of Bangkok, roughly a 2.5 to 3 hour drive, which makes it Thailand's easiest escape into real forest and wine country. The catch is that once you arrive, the national park, the vineyards and the cafes are spread across long mountain roads with almost no taxis or ride-hailing coverage. Kingtocar arranges a private van from Bangkok to Khao Yai with a driver who knows the route, at one flat price per trip that already includes fuel, tolls, the driver and drinking water.

One flat price, no surprises

Toyota Commuter for 9-13 passengers is 4,400 THB per trip and Toyota Alphard for 6-7 passengers is 10,000 THB per trip. Fuel, expressway tolls, the driver and bottled water are all included, and the price is confirmed before you travel.

A driver who knows the mountain road

The climb from Pak Chong into the national park is a long series of steep bends. We assign drivers who have run the Khao Yai route before, so you can watch the forest go by instead of wrestling with an unfamiliar rental car.

The van stays with you

Stop at Farm Chokchai before check-in, wait at a winery, then continue to a hilltop cafe. Just tell us the plan in advance. Taxis and ride-hailing are very hard to find around Khao Yai, especially after dark.

Pick the vehicle that fits your group

Commuter suits families and larger groups with big suitcases, golf bags or child seats. Alphard suits smaller groups and clients who want a quieter, more comfortable ride on the highway.

Travel tips for this route

  1. Leave Bangkok before 07:00, especially on a Friday or Saturday morning. The worst bottlenecks are Phahonyothin around Rangsit and Wang Noi, then Mittraphap Road between Saraburi and Muak Lek. A 09:00 departure can easily add an hour to the drive.
  2. Coming back on a Sunday, avoid 15:00-20:00 when the whole weekend crowd returns at once. Either leave your hotel before 14:00 or have dinner in Pak Chong and set off after 20:00.
  3. The standard route follows Mittraphap Road through Saraburi and Muak Lek. The new M6 motorway from Bang Pa-in to Pak Chong is still opening in phases, with some sections available only on certain days, so your driver checks the current status before departure. If your plan centres on Haew Narok waterfall, the Rangsit to Nakhon Nayok road and the eastern Noen Hom gate is the shorter way in.
  4. November to February is the cool, misty peak season and hotels sell out weeks ahead. June to October brings the fullest waterfalls but also slippery trails and leeches, so bring leech socks and grippy shoes. Wild elephants often walk the park roads at dusk, so drive slowly, keep your distance and never feed them.

What's included

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long does the drive from Bangkok to Khao Yai take?

The route covers roughly 144 km and takes about 2.5 to 3 hours in normal traffic. A late-morning start or a Friday evening departure can stretch it to 4 hours, and if your hotel sits deep inside the national park, allow another 30 to 45 minutes for the mountain road.

What is included in the 4,400 THB price?

That is the flat one-way rate for a Toyota Commuter seating 9 to 13 people, and it already covers fuel, expressway tolls, the driver and bottled water. The Alphard for 6 to 7 people is 10,000 THB per trip. National park entry fees and attraction tickets are not included and are paid on site.

Can we make stops along the way, and will the van wait?

Yes. Tell us your stops when you book so we can plan the timing, for example Farm Chokchai or a winery before hotel check-in, and the driver waits at each stop. Small changes on the day are fine to discuss directly with the driver. If the plan grows well beyond what was booked, we will tell you about any extra cost before it applies.

Is Khao Yai doable as a day trip from Bangkok?

It works if you leave Bangkok around 05:00 to 06:00, which gives you a full day for three or four stops and gets you home in the evening. For sunrise at Pha Diao Dai or dusk wildlife watching, one overnight makes the trip far less rushed. Quoted prices are per one-way trip, so tell our team if you want a return run or the van on standby all day and we will confirm the total first.

How do overnight trips and bookings work?

For multi-day trips we add the driver's accommodation and daily allowance, and you see the full total before deciding. To book, message LINE @kingtocar or call 084-709-3719 with your travel date, pickup point, group size and rough itinerary. A 50% deposit confirms the booking and the balance is paid on the travel day.

How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Khao Yai?

Our private van taxi from Bangkok to Khao Yai is a fixed price per vehicle, one way: Toyota Commuter ฿4,400 (9–13 seats) or Toyota Alphard ฿10,000 (6–7 seats), including driver, fuel, tolls and drinking water — no meter and no surcharge for luggage. Pickup from Suvarnabhumi or Don Mueang airport is the same fare. The return from Khao Yai costs the same.

On a full-day charter, what if we go over the time or distance?

If the van and driver stay with your group all day (same-day return or sightseeing stops), packages start at 11 hours · 330 km (Commuter ฿6,950 / Alphard ฿16,700). Extra time is ฿300 per hour for the Commuter or ฿600 per hour for the Alphard, and extra distance is ฿25/km (Commuter) or ฿45/km (Alphard). Entrance tickets are extra, and if you add stops or change plans along the way, we always tell you the price difference first. One-way transfers (Commuter ฿4,400 / Alphard ฿10,000) are a fixed fare with no extra time or distance charges.
