Laem Ngop ferry piers
Several piers operate here under different companies, so check with your island accommodation which one to use. The last sailing is usually in the early evening and the crossing takes 30 to 45 minutes.
White Sand Beach
The busiest beach on Koh Chang, with hotels, restaurants and shops. Best for first-time visitors who want convenience, and the sunsets are excellent on this western shore.
Klong Prao and Kai Bae beaches
Longer and quieter than White Sand, with mid-range to upscale resorts. A good balance for families who want calm but still a choice of restaurants.
Klong Plu Waterfall
The island's largest waterfall, inside Mu Ko Chang National Park, a 15 to 20 minute walk from the car park with a pool for swimming. Strongest in the rainy season.
Bang Bao fishing village
A stilted fishing village on a wooden pier at the island's southern end, with seafood restaurants and over-water guesthouses, and the departure point for diving trips to Koh Rang.
Kai Bae viewpoint and the ring road
The island ring road has several viewpoints over the sea and outlying islets. Some sections are very steep, so a well-maintained vehicle and a driver familiar with the island are essential.
Straight to Laem Ngop pier
We drop at the ferry terminal entrance so you walk in, buy tickets and board — no hauling luggage onto a songthaew or motorbike for the last stretch.
Timed for the last ferry
The final sailing is usually in the early evening, so we set your Bangkok pick-up to reach the pier at least an hour beforehand, allowing for traffic and ticketing.

Frequently asked questions
Does the van cross to Koh Chang?
No — we drop you at Laem Ngop pier and you take the ferry across, a 30 to 45 minute crossing. On the island, shared songthaews serve everywhere, or your resort can meet you at the island pier. For the return we can wait for you at Laem Ngop.
How long from Bangkok to Laem Ngop pier?
About four and a half to five hours for the 330 km via Motorway 7 and Sukhumvit Route 3, or up to six on long weekends. Leave Bangkok by 8am to be sure of catching the last ferry.
Does ฿6,500 include the ferry ticket?
No. The ฿6,500 is the one-way vehicle charter covering fuel, motorway tolls, driver and water. Ferry tickets are bought at the pier and vary by operator, and island accommodation and transport are separate.
When is the best time to visit Koh Chang?
November to April is best, with fine weather, calm seas and full ferry schedules. May to October is the rainy season — accommodation is much cheaper, but seas can be rough and some sailings cancelled, so always check the forecast.
Can we book the return journey in advance?
Yes, and we strongly recommend it, especially on long weekends when vehicles at the pier are scarce. Give us your return ferry date and time at the outbound booking and a van will be waiting when the boat docks.
How much is a taxi from Bangkok to Koh Chang?
