Phraya Nakhon Cave
Home to the royal pavilion beneath a natural skylight. Reach it either by a steep 30 to 45 minute hike over the headland or by boat from Ban Bang Pu plus a shorter walk. The light beam peaks around 10 to 11am.
Laem Sala and Sam Phraya beaches
Small bays enclosed by limestone hills with clear water and few people. Laem Sala is the staging point for the cave climb and has restaurants and toilets.
Sam Roi Yot wetlands
One of Thailand's largest freshwater marshes, with boardwalks and bird hides. From November to March migratory birds arrive in large numbers — excellent for bird photography.
Kaeo and Sai caves
Limestone caves with fine formations that remain uncrowded, requiring torches and a local guide — appealing for those who want a more traditional caving experience.
Khao Daeng viewpoint
A lookout over the limestone ridges and the whole bay, a fairly steep 20 to 30 minute climb from the car park but well worth it. Best in the cooler morning or late afternoon.
Ban Bang Pu fishing village
A small fishing community and the boat departure point for the cave, with inexpensive fresh seafood and fine bay views — a natural lunch stop after the climb.
The postcard cave
The royal pavilion beneath Phraya Nakhon's natural skylight is Prachuap's defining image, and the light beam is best between about 10 and 11am — we time the drive to arrive for it.

Drop-off at the trailhead

Sam Roi Yot is about 40 minutes south of Pranburi and an hour from Hua Hin, so all three fit one trip. A daily charter is the flexible choice.

How long is Bangkok to Khao Sam Roi Yot?
About four hours for the 270 km via Hua Hin and Pranburi. To catch the cave's light beam between 10 and 11am, leave Bangkok around 5am or stay in Pranburi the night before.
How hard is the walk to Phraya Nakhon Cave?
The headland trail is steep and over natural rock, taking 30 to 45 minutes each way. Alternatively, a boat from Ban Bang Pu to Laem Sala beach leaves a shorter walk — the boat costs extra and suits older visitors.
Does ฿4,800 include the park entrance fee?
No. The ฿4,800 covers the one-way vehicle charter with fuel, tolls, driver and water. National park entrance fees and the boat to Laem Sala are paid on site.
Is a day trip realistic?
Yes, with a very early start — about eight hours of driving plus two hours of walking. A twelve-hour charter at ฿7,500 for a Commuter fits, though staying a night in Pranburi or Hua Hin is far more comfortable.
Can we combine Sam Roi Yot with Hua Hin?
Yes — it is about an hour from Hua Hin and 40 minutes from Pranburi on the same road. A daily charter or one overnight stay covers the cave, the wetlands and Hua Hin without rushing.
On a full-day charter, what if we go over the time or distance?
If the van and driver stay with your group all day (same-day return or sightseeing stops), packages start at 12 hours · 360 km (Commuter ฿7,500 / Alphard ฿18,000). Extra time is ฿300 per hour for the Commuter or ฿600 per hour for the Alphard, and extra distance is ฿25/km (Commuter) or ฿45/km (Alphard).
